I would like to say a massive thank you to Maggie Flora, for her kind hospitality at Brown’s Hotel London. All the staff were so lovely and friendly, they made me feel at home. I am delighted to say that there is another successful Deaf Awareness and Basic Sign Language training, which I had two sessions with Team A and Team B. It has been a long day though.

I heard that Team A were buzzing around the hotel, with their basic sign language, even showing their colleagues what they have learnt. In my break, I had a look around and took some pictures. There was an Afternoon Tea Room, with a Pianist playing. When one of the waiters stopped me as he wanted to show me, to sign his name in (alphabet fingerspelling) “Rocco”. I asked hm how/where did you learn that and he pointed out to one of his colleagues who was in Team A with her training booklet. I had a lovely photo taken with a Pianist. I was pleased to see that some staff members came up to me, saying they would love to do the course with me.

WELL DONE BROMLEY COURT HOTEL

Message to all Hoteliers UK

I am delighted to see another hotel where members of staff are wearing clear lip face masks to support/communicate with deaf guests. Well done!

Please send me photographs of your hotel staff wearing clear lip face mask. It is so important to show how we are all supporting/communicating with deaf guest(s).

If you would like to have a face-to-face discussion with me to get a better understanding for what I provide, then I am happy to arrange a brief, free, no obligation video training session using Zoom together with a British Sign Language interpreter at a time convenient to you. If you would like to meet in person this way, then please let me know and I will make the arrangements.

If you wish to order the clear lip face masks, please email me at:

ruthy@supportthedeafpeople.co.uk

Message to all Hoteliers UK

I was delighted to receive a message from a Hotel General Manager asking me for the clear lip face masks. I was so pleased to know that he is taking this seriously so as to support and communicate with deaf/hard of hearing people within his hotel.

As from Friday, 24th July, everyone must wear face masks whether going shopping, on public transport, or entering restaurants and hotels. I urge everyone that if 2-5 employees, or more, could wear clear lip face masks to communicate with deaf/hard of hearing people this would make it safer for everyone as removing the mask is no longer necessary to make yourself understood.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to order this clear lip face mask for your workplaces.

Thank you, Mike Sweeting, General Manager.
